So I have a glass tank not used yet and just noticed there's a little chip in it it's not all the way through. Do you think if I use sealent on it it'll be ok or would that be too risky?

Did you just buy the tank, or was it sitting around for a while?

+1 to that. Return it and patiently wait for them to get a replacement. Chips and scratches reduce the integretity of the glass and may allow a blowout which might happen the day you fill it or a year down the road.

Glass is for strength and stability why accept a brand new damaged tank that you would ideally like to set up for year to come?

In this hobby there is never a need to rush anything - don;t worry about having to return the tank and wait for another to arrive. In the least I would return to the store and request a partial refund -- that is if you are going to use the tank and not get a new one.....which you should do !

weigh the inconvenience of returning the tank against the inconvenience of picking your dead fish up off your floor and cleaning up the mess. not to mention the damage a blown out tank will cause.
