well my freind purchased a allready setup 125 gallon tank with 120ib of love rock with lots of coraline alage. When i went by the owners house it was still up and running, lots of nice rocks, very expensive lights the hole 9 yards. while i was breaking down the tank i took out the live rock and noticed a worm! about 6 inch long, on his base rock. At that point i told me freind he should kill everything. so we got a big 55 gallon pail and we started to scrub all his rocks and try to remove as much stuff as possible.
i told him he should get some new sand, and new halide bulbs. This guy has had his tank up for almot 6-7 years and said he never had a problem so iam pretty sure he took care of most things but i saw alot of things i didnt like. Now my question is while i have this tank empty and cleaned should i put a new layer of silicone on the edge's, iam already going to change all the pipeing and use new rubber seals etc...Should i tell him to get all new light bulbs. What else should i do while the system is down, iam on vacation from work for 2 weeks so this is gonna be my job till then. So i have alot of time on my hands. thanx for the help.

yes i would get all new light bulbs, as far as the silicone, unless you cut out all of the old the new wont stick.
