If an animal eats coral exclusively, is it an herbivore or a carnivore?

    If an animal eats coral does that make it an herbivore or a carnivore?


    Brain teaser question I guess. Let's assume hypothetical animal only eats coral.

    I say carnivore...

    I would say carnivore due to it being a living organism. It wouldnt really fit with the "meat eaters" part but carnivore doesnt exactly mean "meat eater".

    Im with you Peredhil, I "feel" most corals are animal , but some have symbiotic plant
    residing in them

    Well, since corals are animals, I say carnivore...even though it is really a coralivore

    Corallivore. But all corallivores are carnivores, unless they only eat herbaceous corals... :eek:

    btw- 2nd choice omnivore doesn't technically eat meat.
