If an animal eats coral exclusively, is it an herbivore or a carnivore?

that's funny...... and the word "herbeceous" makes me smile.

I guess technically if they eat the coral (animal), they are also eating the xoozanthellae algae (plant). I say omnivore.

If I just eat cow and cow eats grass i am still a carnivore. So I would have to say carnivore. Just cause plant is inside doesn't mean they are eating the plant they are going for the tentacles and that sort so that is an animal so it is a carnivore.

Yeah, because you're eating the algae when along with the coral..

The cow you eat is purely meat, of course there isn't going to be any grass in the meat...maybe if you ate them raw. Like right off the pasture..?? haha

A Carnivore we all know to be a meat eater. To be considered a carnivore your diet must be *mostly* meat either predation or scavenging. If the *ivore* in question MUST eat meat to live it would be am “Obligate Carnivore”. Yet any creature eating meat exclusively would be known as a hypercanivore. So I would consider your exclusive coral muncher a hypercanivore IF we conclude that a coral is considered meat.

Meat quite frankly is considered animal flesh – most often meaning muscle, fat & tissue. However, meat is also organs, brains, marrow, lungs and skin (and other).

A coral is considered an animal and I would consider it to have “skin” therefore qualifying it as *meat* and its would-be predator therefore being a “Hypercarnivore – the natural sworn enemy of the reef-keeper.”

But i might be more inclined to call it a "dirty rotten hitch-hiking SOB from hell"
