I just did a lil more research and I believe it to be called a "stonefish" (Synanceia verrucosa) and it's the most venomous fish in the world and could be lethal. and it will definitely outgrow my tank, right now it's about 5" and they can get 18". of course that's only if i'm correct, any input would be appreciated.

Yeah, the first thing I thought was "What the $#$% does he have one of those for?". Dude. Be careful. If you have kids around, I would take it back ASAP if that's what it is. Even if you don't have kids, I would get rid of it. They are indeed deadly if I remember right and I would put money (my standard $1 bet) on this one. Peace bro. John.

EDIT: If it is a stonefish, and they did not warn you, I would have words with the higher ups. If they did not know, that's almost worse. Ignorance will kill your a%^ just as effectively as stupidity. It should not even have been up for sale. Man I am Pi%$#$% at them. I really hope this isn't the case.

I got it for free from my brother cause it kept eating all his smaller fish, he bought it from this place called Reef's Edge, they're known for their exotic collection. He said he paid $250 for it and the guy told him to be carefull cause if he was stung it would hurt bad for a couple hours, but he didn't mention anything about death.
