Hey guys, I got a feather duster last night and I keep seeing my red hermit crab attacking it constantly.

Right now hes grabbing on it.

Is that normal? Should I worry for the feather duster?

    Whats the next move?

I have never heard of that. If you suspect its going to be a problem throw the crab in your fuge if you have one or just throw him down the toilet. Crabs are cheap.

None of my crabs bothered my duster. They usually only bother dead things in my tank...... Remove the crab or the duster I suppose.

Only thing that bothered my duster (just happened last week) is that my algae blenny got excited over some food and accidently ate the tips off the duster while he was munching away.

Well, he seems to have moved on. He actually lifted out the FD and moved it, closer to the end of the tube, it looks opened up, kinda, I'm speculating as this is my first one. ANyways The crab was down there picking. But i don't see him anymore.

Some times they (the crabs) find a food source on the tube of the feather duster and will stay with it intill it is removed, usually an alge of some type. My feather duster has also been asullted by my tang for the same reason.
