So snails produce bazillions of babies (or they do in my tank) I for some reason only have 1 blue legged hermit crab left, and it's huge ! Do hermits produce babies. ? And if so how ? Do they need a mate or do the reproduce by themselves ? Also where donthe bigger shells come from ? I noticed he kind of shed his legs the other day, so he is getting bigger, where would he go when he out grows his shell ?
Is there a way to help him/her re produce ?

    Lots of questions, sorry

As they grow, they need some extra larger shells around to grow into. I'm not sure about reproduction, I have a few in my sump and occasionally I'll see some sort of light seeking larvae in the tank at night that look like they could be a crab larvae.

I used to have 2 peppermint shrimp and they'd both get pregnant and have babies (light seeking larvae), I'm not sure about crabs. I think, though, that you have to have a male and a female. Don't ask me how to tell the difference.

you need to get him bigger shells to move into! Their babies look like little shrimp babies! Guessing this is a mom and dad situation but not sure!

    LOL

Yes, it takes two to tango.

Their larvae have a free-swimming shrimp-like planktonic stage where they rarely last long enough in the aquarium to even be seen.

You need to provide larger shells for them. Otherwise, they will resort to killing snails for a new home.
