Today when I was doing a water change I saw half of a hermit crab float by. I bought three about a week ago and they really cleaned the tank up. A little too well maybe? There still seems to be some algae in there. Do they eat each other? Is there stuff I can feed them?

Right now the only livestock is 2 hermits and a chromis. There has been an appreciable ammonia spike since adding them so I've been feeding very lightly (like every other day or so in tiny increments) and doing 5 to 10% water changes daily.

It was probably a molting. However, hermits are evil and eat anything they can. I lost a cat that way.
