Good friday everyone. Hope everyone had a great week.

I have 18 Green hermit crabs and 19 of those ultra small blue legged hermit crabs. I bought them to help keep the tank clean. Well they have really done their job, when I got the green crabs my gravel substrate had quite abit of algea on it and now they have picked it clean. My question is do I need to feed these guys. I only hace 2 small fish that I feed flakes and pellets and some frozen I think they are Mysis shrimp. Whenever I drop food into the tank all the crabs freek out like they havent eaten for weeks and they devour most everything that hits the bottom. I am afraid that I am overfeeding them because some of the food gets stuck in the liverock and some on powerheads and I know this makes for poor water quality. Should I worry about the crabs or just feed the fish and let the crabs graze the liverock and fight for the scraps that the fish dont get.

I have only one right now. A big one. And he's about to have a new home. The Atlantic Ocean!!! but I do ususally unplug my pump so the water doesnt push the food away where it cant be found, and drop a couple of pellets in the front bottom for him.

Now my Sabea clown runs over there and grabs-steals! and food laying around and spits it in the carpet an. Hes a real good buddy to that carpet.!!!

you could probably drop of dead shrimp in and they could all have a picnic!!!

    good luck!!!

Hermits will scavange whatever the fish don't get. I never "feed" mine and they do just fine.
