I just picked up some more snails and they gave me a hermit crab on accident. my question is are there any hermits that aren't reef safe? his body and claws are a redish black with red antennas.I thought about putting him in the refuge till I figure out if he is safe.

Almost all hermit crabs are opportunistic feeders. They will generally eat whatever dead, flake, pellet, frozen food source they find on the rocks and substrate, and will occassionaly kill a snail for food and to take it's shell.
