Hermit crabs

Will hermet crabs eat my fish im about to order some i hear there good for cleaning the tank

 

Don't worry, thre is no way that a hermit crab could catch a fish. If you have dead fish though, then the hermits will eat these, but that is what hermits are for - cleaning up the tank.

You don't need to feed them anything extra, they will be more than happy roaming around picking up old bits of food and other detritus.

The worst that they will do is kill each other or snails so that they can get new shells when they grow out their own, so it is advisable to put some empty shells in the tank for them.

lol great advice thank you where would you get larger shells from ??

 

My lfs sells empty shells, or if you're on the coast you can just go down to the beach and pick some up (wash them first though).

 

probably could have figured that out if i thought about it for even a second .... hey i just orderd ten hermit crabs and 10 snails is there gonna be extrreme carnage

 

What size tank do you have?

 

350 litre/ 90 gallon 4 foot x 2 x 1.5 i think thats rite i normally say it in cm which would be 122x56x72

V nice tank. For that size, if you haven't got any other clean up crew, then I would recommend at least 20 of each.
