I had a yellow tail damsel just die on me. He was swimming around one min then the next I didnt see him I was looking around the tank and saw like 4 hermit crabs all over him eating him. Do hermit crabs normally attack fish?

They are not normaly quick enough to catch fish to be honest - even when they sneak up during dark hours, the fish gets a chance to swim away

My guess is something else killed the fish or it was dying and the hermits , being oportunist scavengers quickly found him and finished it off
