Hermit Shell on my floor?

i had been hearing this tapping noise, i followed it by the noise and it was by my electrical cord stuff, floor was really wet and there was a blue leg hermit shell on the floor i dont know how he mannaged to get on the floor, but its some how realted my skimmer. My skimmer is about half way full of ice dark skimmate guess ir eally need to clean it now, the filter sock isint really that dirty thats over the outtake pump, im thinking it had been overflowing like this for a couple hours because floor is pretty wet

im stll kind of confused how its wet as the skimmer has been working fine, i think this is all because of the hermit shell, now off to clean my skimmer and hope its starts up again without leaking

 

ah, the ole wet floor!! I came home from work the other day to a wierd gurgling noise coming from mine. Sure enough it was the skimmer. The cup was full. Luckilly I had fail safe'd it by putting the suction hose from the silencer, into the top of the cup, so when it gets full, it sucks water and shuts off the air going to the skimmer, which in turn keeps it from overflowing all over the place. I cant count the number of times this has saved me!

 

thats a good idea, this isint the first time for me either

 

so i cleaned my skimmer and it smelt like rotten egges, gross!
