I just got my order today and my blue legged hermits are chowing down on my limpets, at least one of them is doing it and it was a decent sized hermit eating a decent sized limpet, is this normal?

If you got the limpets from where I think you did, they won't last long anyway.

I have 1 left from my last order a while ago. I think the only reason it is alive is because it is in the overflow piping. It hasn't moved in moths but is definitely still alive. It won't budge. I now will pretty much steer clear of buying sub tropical CUC for my tropical reef tank.

That said, hermits are generally pretty nasty little things, so I have very few of them, and only the scarlet reef hermits and the red mexican ones. Those 2 kinds seem to eat CUC only when the snails die on their own.

I throw a thawed silverside in once a week to make sure they leave the CUC alone.

good to know on the heads up about them, i didnt know that about the limpets, i had a couple hitchhike into my tank from my LR thought they were cool, i couldnt find them anymore but i figured since i was doing an order i wanted to give limpets a try :D

im surprised how fast these guys move when i first got these guys i dumped them in the sand along with everything else a couple hours later some are tat the top of my rocks their pretty cool i hope they will be able to surive.

strangly i kind of like hermits, i dont care for snails very much nassarius are the only kidns that i find neat, i hate nerites though. Hopefully the hermits wont kill any more limpets
