Let me start out by stating that your site is very informative and helpful.

    My question is:

I recently purchased an emerald crab missing one right leg and two of it's front claws.

It is still able to get around, albeit slowly, and is also still able to eat (awkwardly).

Will it regrow all of it's appendages back duing a molt? How often do they molt?

    Thank you!!

    welcome to 3 reef

Yes , I believe they will grow back eventually, maybe not at 1st molt but in a future one
molting is linked to growth, the shell cannot grow as fast as the crab so the crab discards its present shell and the under layer of skin hardens to form the new shell
so its hard to give an indication on time as it varies from crab to crab, even within same species - bigger eaters, grow faster and molt more often

    Thanks for the quick reply!!

It is only mixed in with 2 other hermit crabs so it shouldn't really be in much compitition for food and there are no predators in the tank.

Do you recommend me putting anything in the tank to speed up his rate of molting? Perhaps feed him more meaty foods? Brine shrimp perhaps?

    Thanks.

    Ya, I know Sorry.

I posted this on 3 different forums. I started with the "hello forum" and noticed that there were more appropriate forums for this topic to be discussed.

I am just trying to get a feel for the site. I didn't reliaze there were so many forums.

Hey Fsukem - I would not do that to be honest as you may give yourself other problems with water quality due to excesive target feeding this specific crab
if its eating OK and he will find plenty to eat in a typical fish tank, I would let nature take its course
