my lr has turf algae on it and to make a long story short its next to impossable to get rid of..so i was wondering if i can put it underneath in my sump for a few days to deprive it of light???will it harm my lr or my cycle??thet tank is 45g with a 15g sump

No it won't harm the live rock, however, you will need to keep it in the dark for a while, at least several weeks. I would just soak the rock in bleach and water, then a soak in baking soda and water, a rinse off and let it dry. The algae will be dead and you can add the rock to your tank again.

maybe be better than battling an algae infestation in the long run. that rock will be seeded and become "live" again. how far along in your cycle are you?
