SO i have a 40 liter set up, with 1 1.5 inch clown and 1 2 inch lawnmower blenny.

The tank has 2 KG of live rock and has been full cycled.
Ammonia was at 0.50-1.00, and nitrite at 0.25 when i just tested them, so i did a 20% water change...

so i have a couple of questions...
    1. how often should i feed them 2?
    2. the clownfish seems to hang near the filter a bit... purely because there isnt mush to hid in... should i buy some more thing for him to hide in?
    3. how bad is it to have ammonia at the levels i have it, is it fatal?

Thanks, no doubt i will have more questions!
    but in the meantime!
    Thank you in advanced! :)

    Dean.

welcome welcome!!!! How long has your tank been setup for. You should get rid of that ammonia as soon as possible. I wouldn't worry about the clown some fish just like certain spots in the tank, if he like it up there he'll stay up there and when It comes to feeding I only feed my fish once a day in the afternoon because of school and other stuff. But if you can twice a day is ideal to keep your little fishies happy.

Ideally the ammonia and nitrite levels should be zero, so you need to do your best to get them down with more water changes and less feeding until the levels improve. I would also be putting a lot more live rock in there. Good luck with it.

Ammonia is somewhat high, but if you are going through a cycle, then its okay, that means its going well..

How long has it been setup?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
I think a water change is in order. The ammonia may not kill them but it may cause enough stress that disease sets in.

Feed a small amount once a day to once everyother day. The volumne of water greatly influence your room for error. With that amount you could easily over feed.

Clownfish sometimes just hang out in one region of a tank or piece of equipment or coral. It is similar to them residing in an anemone, they like to be close to their host. I would address the ammonia issue asap though as hiding is also a sign of stress and can definitely be caused by the elevated ammonia level.

    Good Luck

Agree with everyone....sounds like a new tank and its cycling (I hope) that is why ammonia and nitrite levels are where they are.

The best piece of advice and the one that will give you the most success with your tank in this hobby is.......(drumroll)......GO SLOW!

I know it stinks sometimes but patience is gonna be your best friend in this hobby. If you take things slow your hard work and patience will pay off and you will be rewarded with a great looking, healthy tank for you to enjoy.
