    Bought a 55 gallon a couple weeks ago and have been reading, reading, reading on how to start and keep up a tank. My current setup is...

    55gal w/ 10gal sump/fuge.
    Danner Mag5 Return Pump
    Eshoppes Overflow Box
    Coralife 125 Protein Skimmer
    40lbs Caribsea Live Fiji Pink Sand
    ~ 60lbs Fiji Live Rock (4lbs in fuge)
    And some chaeto in the refugium.

    Going to start cycling this weekend for a month or two! :cheesy:

    I have a watchman goby, a star serpent, and some hermits in a mature 3 gallon to add to the tank when it's done cycling. Excited for the process!

    Looking forward to meet some cool people and learn more about reef tanks!

    Here's the tank as it sits now with the Mag5 mixing up the salt.

    10gal DIY Sump. Left is the return area. Middle is the refugium which will hold some chaeto and some other small shrimp. And the right is the intake that will hold the hang-on skimmer.

    Are you planning on a reef tank? or fish only? Either way, I would suggest using live rock, you didnt mention it on your list, so I felt it needed to be brought up.
