Hi my name is Nick and I'm from dayton Oh. i've kept fresh water fish since i could remember growing up. About a month ago I moved and had to tear down my fresh water Aouth American Ciclid tank. i was interested in what it would take to start a salt water tank. i had a lot of questions (and still do) so I went to the local saltwater store and the owner set me on the path to starting my firt reef tank.

I will be running a 120g tank with 45g wet/dry sump. Pro Clear Aquatics 125 Protine skimmer. 1000W titanium heather with controler and probe. CPR 1200GPH overflow with little giant 850gph pump with dual 1 inch returns and locline flow accelerators.

I'm also in the process of building a new hood for my MH lighting fixtures one 250W for the center and two 175w MH on either side. it's coming along i'll try tto get come pics on here and show you guys. anyways i look forward to talking to you guys.

    Welcome to 3Reef!!!!

One thing I would say is if your 120 was the same tank you used for freshwater make sure you've never used copper meds in it to treat your fish. invertibrates can't tolerate copper and even though the tank has been cleaned the silicone can soak up the copper and leach it back into the tank.

I would go ahead and invest in a good RO/DI unit as well.

Good luck and post some pictures! ;D
