    Well.... I did use Purple Up Once long time ago(2 years), BUT, I actually was just talking to the Purple Up guy today at the NJRC fragswap and he confesses that all it is a balanced calcium supplement, so as long as you are supplying the tank with a "steady" (that is the key word) dose of calcium, alkalinity and magnesium you should be able to grow coraline algae like crazy, I have a nearby friend who could not grow any, he started dosing very small amounts of magnesium and he is now coloring up nicely, make sure you follow the instructions of magnesium very carefully and is best to test for it before you actually dose it, my level of mag is usually around 1300pmm, have not test it lately tho:-[ I also do weekly water changes which replenishes all the elements as well.

    look again at my initial FTS the rock on the right I added from my fuge about 3 weeks ago, it is still mostly white, it is now starting to show specs of pink in it.
