well it looks like turf algae, and i have a starry blenny to eat the algae...and as far as a cuc i cant keep them due to my nitrates and i have a sponge on my over flow drain and the other compartments of my sump hold lr rubble and bio balls, also carbon, mangroves, and ceramic pellets for benifical bacteria..but it does look like turf algae....what next..i use ro water from my lfs and i test it everytime i buy it??

Well the main ways to lower nitrates are filter media (but they must be changed often enough, otherwise they become nitrate factories), cut back on feeding and do consistent water changes.

When I had a pretty bad cyano problem it took at least a month to get control of it before it went away. Just be patient!! I know it sucks...lol

Mine just started growing a few weeks ago, but I haven't done anything because it's growing reeeeeeally slowly and it's only on one rock and kind of pretty! It's a really bright red. But I'll do something soon because I don't want it getting out of control. I've been bad about my water changes recently though....:-X
