    So I've just started my first reef tank (about 2 weeks ago), I've been researching if for about 6 months now. I have a couple fresh water tanks, and actually I've just become the proud parent of a fry of cichlids. Corny, I know. Anyhow, I'm working with a limited budget (intentionally) for my saltwater tank and so far I think I've done well. I bought a 55 gallon tank and cabinet combo on craigslist for cheap money. I, learnt after I bought the tank that I needed to get an overflow box seeing as I didn't get a tank with one built in. So just out of luck I found a fish pet store that is going out of business that is selling everything for next to nothing. Then the best part of all, I found a guy that sold me 30 pounds of live rock,20 pounds of live sand, hermits, snails and a few polyps etc out of his tank that he was breaking down all for $40.00. I built the sump, and coming from fresh water to saltwater at first I didn't understand how there wasn't a filter, but my research finally explained. Sorry for the lengthy piece but I'm excited and just want to share it. This site is great and it's neat to have a community of people that get excited about the same thing. I would appreciate any advice that anyone has, and thanks for having me here.
