    Welcome to 3reeef.

Please research the DSB a little before you are sure you want one.

+1 on the sump, Leds are great for the life of the bulbs.

What kind of tank are you going for? I ask only because I've done DSB's in the past and recently went with a bare bottom tank and I absolutely love it, haven't had an issue with nitrates or phosphates since the beginning and I really love the look - check out this tank (its been on 3reef a lot) but was def my inspiration for going bare bottom.

Not really sure what you mean by what kind of tank. If you're asking what am I going to put in it, I'm not really sure as to what kinds of fish but I definitely want a wide variety of corals and a goby/pistol shrimp.

Also, would this be the place where I post the stuff I'm planning on buying so I can get an opinion?

I'm definitely not super knowledgeable from the equipment side but I agree with Todd - you may not want such a deep sand bed. Having about 1-2 inches probably will result in fewer potential problems in the future. Others can chime in on your ideas for pumps and how much water movement yours would produce and whether that's sufficient. I'd have more feedback when you get to livestock - sorry :)
