    Hey everybody,

I am pretty new to the reef world. I have had a Saltwater tank for 3 years but just recently started the reef tank 3 months ago. I introduced 35 lbs of live rock in my 20 gallon tank and let that mature for the first 2-1/2 months and now have a few corals. I plan on introducing more in the near future and would like to have everyone's help through this process.

I will post tank pictures soon

    Welcome John.
Which Satelite fixture do you have?
The one with 2 or 4 bulbs? I have the 48in one with 2 actinic and 2 10k lights so I could probably give some insight as to will do well or possible placement.

Hi, and welcome to 3reef!!!!Glad your here! there is alot to learn with regards to reef tanks, however, there are alot of knowledgeable people here to offer expert opinion and experience to make reefdom as enjoyable and successful as possible.
Feel free to ask as many questions as you wish without feeling stupid or "that is is a dumb question", because the only dumb question is the one not asked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good luck with your tank...and do as much reading and research as you can...it will only help you and the living things you plan on keeping in your tank!!!

I have one 10k bulb and 1 actinic. I have a total of 65W on a 20 gallon tank. So i only have about 3.25W per gallon.

    cool.
being that you have a 20gal. Your tank is not very deep. If I remember correctly 12 or 18in. You should be good with most zoanthids, star polyps. colorful brains like the one in my pic :), and some lps. Stay away from the SPS. With that small of a tank I would chose softies only being the lighting and the fact that you don't want to mix softies and stonies in such a small confined tank. Although the warfare would be quite interesting. Not the loss in money though. :)

Thanks for the advice. Actually, i do have one stony that a friend bought me for my birthday. It is a fungia coral but i have placed it in the substrate so it cannot contact any other kind of coral. Will this kind of coral be ok in my tank or is this coral to hard to keep with my lighting.

My guess is you will most likely see it start bleaching and the polyps may stop coming out. You will want to position it as close to the lights as possible. If you see bleaching you will want to either give it back or get stronger lights before I completely dies. Then again this is the fun of reef keeping. :) You don't know for sure till you try.
