    Hi,
Had salts about 25 years ago, very basic set up with a Lion, Panther Grouper, and a few odds and ends that they did not eat. Seems like you did not need to be a chem major to be into the hobby then, although I had many losses and never had any coral. Got back into it recently as my 16 year old son wanted to make the transition from fresh to salt once he saw a BioCube 29 in our LFS. Much $$$ later, which my son is splitting with me, (although little I suspect compared to most of you) we are into our new tank for about 5 weeks. Started with the LFS water, CPR SR3 skimmer, 25 lbs. uncured live rock, live sand and let it set for 3 weeks. Now have 2 clowns, a 3" dragon zoo, mushroom, snails, crabs, etc. Bought a 5" open green brain a week ago at an unnamed LFS in Levitown, that is at deaths door now. Water is perfect (0,0,0), I think it was on the way out when I bought it, but was too dumb to know. I don't think I lost it that quick over not enough lighting, but it is at the top of my tank now. Should I yank it, take it back to LFS (good luck!?) or try to nurse it back?
I'm sure there will be many newbie questions to come; thanks in advance for sharing your knowlege.
    David

Good to hear you're back into SW. What's the type of lighting on the biocube?

Forgot to mention, and you might already know this. While a fish only tank doesn't really require you to monitor anything more than salinity, temperature, pH, ammonia and nitrates; in a (reef) tank with corals you'll also need to keep up levels of calcium, magnesium, and keep your alkalinity up. The corals depend on that for growth as well as having adequate lighting. Welcome to 3reef.
