    my name is mike and im pretty green at this stuff but i have a freashwater tank (community fish) and am gearing up to do a saltwater tank but still deciding what size to start out on i have had a 33 gallon for a short duration with saltwater and i just need to do some more learning! thanks and hope to meet some locals!

    Welcome my friend and get the biggest tank you can get. More water volume means more room for error.

    What's up buddy! welcome to 3reef. The bigger the tank the easier it is to maintain water quality but also more expensive too + more fish, more corals. So if you get a bigger tank to start you'll save yourself the money of having to upgrade after you realize you got to small of tank to start. J/k Go with what your comfortable with.

    I started with a 55G. I am thinking and planning for my future bigger tank... ;D

    A lot of the equipment I bought for my 55G won't carry over to a larger tank (a lot will though too).

    i have a 75 gallon but i want bigger should i sell it or use it for a refugium and what is a refugium sorry still learning! also do i have to buy 75 pounds of live rock right of the bat> they said that with the 33 when i started.

    Welcome to 3reef. Yup, I started with a 75g. Then it sprung a leak. Darn. Had to upgrade to a 90g.
