I just received my RedSea Max tank this afternoon. It will be my first venture into marine aquaria so I joined this community. I thought this was a group only about the RedSea tank but I can see there is much more. So I will be reading and learning for a long time as it will take quite a while to figure out how to put the stand together. LOL

Thank you for the welcome. Is there anywhere where a list of recommended brands for equipment is posted? I need a powerhead & heater to use to mix seawater for use in my tank. Also any suggestions for things like test reagents, hydrometers etc would be appreciated. Judy

Try the sponsors websites her on 3reef first of all! Test reagents by Seachem, or Salifert are very good! Basically, any chemical, trace element you add, you should test for! Ie. calcium, iodine, as well as nitrates, phosphates, pH and alkalinity! Salinity level and temperature stability will go far in your success or lack thereof IMO also!
As for the hydrometer, you could go with a cheap plastic one from Coralife or Instant Ocean, or go with a refractometer for more accurate salinity and specific gravity readings!
How about lighting and a skimmer?
What are you planning on keeping?

The RedSea Max comes with a skimmer & lighting. I'm not into/upto corals yet so I don't care that it doesn't have metal halides. I plan on having a pair of Percula clowns & maybe a Goby. It's only 34g so I can't have too much. If I don't get the stand put together I can't have anything. Should I buy a RO/DI or wait? I can buy prepared saltwater at the local store, he said he could deliver it actually. Judy
