Hi, I recently converted one of my freshwater tanks to salt water. I have had freshwater tanks for about 7 years now and have really enjoyed it. I have breeding Wolf Cichlids, Oscars, Red devil, Green Terrors, a bunch of baby fish and recently my Jaguar died .I have a 150g, 120g, 55g, and 35g all freshwater and I finally broke down and converted my 75g to saltwater.

I have been thinking about saltwater for a while and finally did it on an impulse so I have been reading up a lot. I have set up a sump, have a skimmer going, and working on getting a refugium up and running within the next week. I am currently cycling my water (second week) and can't wait to start putting things in there. I plan on making a reef tank so if anyone has any suggestions on what to get first or any tips anything would be great. If all goes well my next tank to go saltwater will be the 150g.

    Thanks

hi and welcome to 3reef, i personally started with freshwater and bred dwarf gouramies and fancy goppies. this is what i could do with my small tanks. i switched recently to saltwater and i can give you 1 advise, before getting anything and place it in your display tank, have a quarantine tank set up and never place anything directly in ur DT.
do you have any rocks or sand in your tank yet?
would like to see some pics
    and good luck

Welcome Saldebo! Sorry to hear about your jaguar.I've always liked them.I know someone that had one in a 55g by itself with nothing but live plants for a few years.

I'd stock up with some cured LR for now and get that oriented while you wait for things to settle in. Your lighting is also going to be very crucial and there's tons of options so read-up! I'm still in the beginning stages myself.
