Pretty much in florida you can collect any aquarium specimen besides the hard corals. I caught my fish/shrimp on the newer 7 mile bridge and a shallow section of delta shoals. The hermit crabs are easy just go on a beach or money key. This was my 5th time collecting in the keys and we were stopped by game wardens and they have never had problems when we had aquarium fish in jars for the tank.

 

Did they ask for your Florida Salt Water License?

 

.....It was a family trip, I didn't need a license at the time( 7 years ago) but they wanted my dad's. They were only interested in the lobster we caught and hogfish we speared
