    Hi everyone,

I have a 70Gallon tank that has been running for about 4 months or so, all is doing really well, except recently I did a test and I got a high calcium reading. It was at around 500ppm. The salt I use has calcium added, but I have calmed down on my water changes (I was doing one every two days), so Im not sure why all of a sudden I have all this extra calcium. Obviously its not a good thing. I want to know how to lower it if I can.

Let me know if I need to provide any extra info for you to help me, thank you in advance!

Ca. at 500 is not that high But check the DKH or carbonates and the magnesium I think you will find your problem in there somewhere very low DKH or low Magnesium . Search these elements on all the old threads I have posted a million time s how all of these 3 elements are needed in proper amounts to keep them all happy and in solution with one another.

here you go have a look mate :)

Doing water changes every 2 days is the reason more than likely. Don't do a change for 3 weeks and keep an eye on the calc.

If you are using an API test kit, it might be giving you a high reading, mine is 30-50ppm higher than my other kits.
