How fast? with the right equipment, as long as it takes to fill with water.

Is the frag tank going to be plumed to your DT? I think you might of been referring to having established water quality?

rather than how fast it can be done, tell us a little about your plans for equipment and set up. That will help us give you a better answer.

I'm going to use one of my 40 gallon breeders as the frag tank.It will be very plain just the frags and a frag rack and maybe a small amount of live rock in this tank. The sump will be another 40 breeder with the rest of my live rock,my big bad a** oct skimmer, jbj ato, and a filter sock.I might also run a hob fuge. For lighting I'm either going with a tec 36" 6 bulb t5 ho fixture or run both my 175 watt mh and sup with 2 36" t5s.All of the rock I have had for over 3-4 years.

I would recommend a sump and skimmer. It will require frequent water changes as most of the time you want to limit the amount of live rock and keep it bare bottom. It can be done and doesnt take a lot of time to set it up, however it will require more time with maintance.

Also you will want to put 1 fish in the system to help feed the corals! Good luck
