I just added my clown, and i had a nitrate spike (40ppm) , I did a 50% water change (10 gallon tank) last night, and this morning I retested the water and I have a 0.50ppm ammonia, 0.50 ppm nitrite and 40ppm nitrate, should I do another water change?

Are u a beginner? I wouldn't do ten gallons because its harder to maintain parameters. Remember that it isn't as easy as freshwater. And please don't cycle with fish... I recommend at least thirty gallons.

During that month did you do anything in the tank? If not then you haven't done a cycle at all. Of course your parameters will be 0; u didn't do anything and waiting won't help. No wonder ur parameters aren't good

I wouldnt do a water change as stated before you tank is jsut now starting to cycle especially if you still have signs of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate together. I can take more then a month to cycle a tank I took mine almost 2.5 months.

I would start doing daily water-changes and tests, to see where I'm going, if it where me. I would not do 50% daily. 25% is a lot if you ask me. Do you have any idea what caused the spike? I'm not good with nanos they change too quick for me, but I thought I'd chime in anyway. Hope it helps in some way
