high mag have effects on my tank?

    My MAG test read out at almost 1400 will this have any negitive effects on my tank? everything else looks good 8.2-8.5dkh 8.3ph 460 Ca

    Nope. That's a little high but still within range.

    1400 is fine, I've ran mine higher with no ill effects short term.

    Many people maintain a level of 1500. Problems don't arise until 1600 for most corals.

    agreed with all above. also, above 1600ppm "can" bother inverts and possibly kill them

    nice thanks for the info, if it gets much higher how would i go about lowering it?

    On a side note found lots of things im picking up at the swap :)

    Water changes if it is very high or let it go down naturally if it is a little high.

    I've only heard of people running their mag above 1500 if they have a briopsis problem, but it's usually during a new tank cycle and only for a few weeks. 1400-1500 is fine.

    Im running mine at 1800ppm to kill off my briopsis. The only effect was a slight bleaching of my zoas.
