High Mg vs. Bryopsis

For about the past week I've been slowly raising the Mg in my tank with Kent Tech M to kill the bryopsis but I think the only thing that it's killing is my snails. My astrea and turbo snails have seemingly stopped moving and some of them flip over and don't right themselves. The Mg has now reached just around 2100 and doesn't seem to be having any effect. The corals all still have their color but one of my shrooms has closed up a little more than usual. Any ideas anyone?

 

I hit 1700, and most of my acans bleached. Bryopsis grew faster than before.

 

So you're saying increasing the Mg sped up the growth of ur bryopsis.

 

No, I'm saying it killed off half the other stuff in my tank that used nitrates and phosphates.

 

Oh ok, the only thing I seem to be killing is my large snails.

 

I also have heard mag takes a decent while to kill bryopsis, sometimes a month, usually at least a week to see good results.

 

Raising Mg to kill bryopsis only works for some species.

 

what species can we get a pic? im battling it too and dont want to try if it is not going to work

 

Yup, didn't do anything for us when we were fighting it.

 

I was successful with kent tech M. My bryopsis was dead and gone within 2 weeks and hasn't shown back up since. I raised mg slowly to 1700ppm and the affects were almost immediate on the species I had.
