Did you not appreciate the answer you received in this thread?

FWIW, Matt tends to give excellent advice. He also asked questions that you failed to answer. These are ways to find yourself being ignored in the future... Just so you know.

You could possibly have had a cycle again from the dead rock you placed in your tank from the bacteria that was killed for being outside of the water. Or your test kit is bad. What test kit do you use?

How old is this set up and how long has the live rock been in the tank?

Sounds like new live rock that is experiencing die off and your tank is either cycling or experiencing a mini cycle due to die off. Please give some history about your tank and we will be able to help you out.

I have used two different testing methods... Test strips and API individual testers.

Im thinking about removing all the sketchy rock that doesnt have coral on it and cycle it

Yes but one was under Water chemistry.... one under live rock.

I guess since Im still new to the forum ethics policy posting questions in different listings is a no no.

A reporting for asking a question in different places.... ok

Tank has been up and running for about a year now. I havent added any new rock for about 6 months.

I know i had a fire fish die about a month ago but i figured that should of passed by now.

Some of the rock that came with a coral on it had something weird growing on it and now its growing on other rocks.... The growth looks like roots.... only about 1cm in length and white in color. I cant find anything online that looks like what it is... and i dont know how to attach a file using a "URL"
