high output or not?

    hi i just bought a 2 light 48" 65 watt t5 is that a high out put t5 i have a 75 gallon, how many bullbs do i need @ the minimun and can i buy ati lights for this fixture?

    You'd probably need at least a 4 bulb fixture, and a six would be better. I'll let someone else chime in about lighting, since I'm really not an expert, but that's what I'd say.

    65 watt does not sound like a T5 wattage to me
    there are 54 watts for 48 inch fixtures and then 80 watts for 60 inch - and then 96 watts for 72 inch fixtures

    but if they are in fact T5 and not PC

    then 4 tubes minimum of your looking to keep SPS - with 6 tubes being good for almost anything including Clams (IME) Providing as you say, you purchase quality brand tubes
    and replace them when required

    thanks dudes just bought a 6 light t5 54 watt HO with 10 leds hopefully i can start to grow some coral!

    that fixture will do it for you. what brand did you get? also when its time to replace bulbs. use ATI/UVL/G-mman brand bulbs for maximum par output.
