what size is your tank? taking 10 out and adding 10 fresh will definitly lower your salinity, but it might not be enough if your at 1.128

I assusme there is no live stock in the tank? i dont know of anything that would live at that high of a salinity.

Yeah, Just add fresh ro/di water and that will bring it down ;)

If you replace 1/2 the water it'll take down the ppt by 1/2 of the current ppt - 1. So, assuming you have a 20 gallon tank, doing a 1/2 replacement with fresh water would give you a SG of around 1.064, which is still way high. You need to replace a bit more than 3/4 of your water with fresh to get it anywhere near appropriate levels.

take out 5 gallons, and add a very weak mixture of ro/di saltwater.. dont want a huge drop of salinity all at once.. get it down to 1.024-1.025 that way your in the middle range.. with room to spare going either up or down.

I've never read anything like this. It looks to me like your confusing the concept of N03 reduction with specific gravity. The math isn't even right.

^^^Only if your ARE NOT replacing evaporation^^^ If you are replacing water that has evaporated just add RO/DI slowly and check your sg after each addition until you reach the level you are after.

This makes no sense, replacing half ur tank water with fresh water will lower your salanity to a point where things will most likely die

    DO NOT DO THIS ;D
