I think that would be wise... either that or your ac unit has a short in it.

[quote author=JOER0178 link=board=General;num=1084462933;start=0#3 date=05/13/04 at 12:16:17]not really sure how many BTU's the air conditioner is, its a medium size a/c.  it is a 15amp breaker so ill go get a 20 and try it.  The guy at my LFS said that a chiller is very efficient and wouldn't use nealrly as much electricity as an a/c.  Is that true or is he going for the big sale. When you said you have a 15 amp breaker and you will get a 20. I hope you mean that you will have a new 20 Amp circuit installed and not just change the breaker. It is good idea to have an electrician come in and wire a new circuit or better two. I don't live that far from you and we sort of skipped spring here. However the last few days have been a repreive. For now leave the top off and run a fan to cool off the tank. Fans in your lighting hood are also a necesity.

    Regards

Being in Cali, I know what you're dealing w/ as far as heat problems are concerned. Checkout my setup. I have all my equipment on a 15amp circuit and it's running fine. No circuit tripping or anything. I use a 1/3hp chiller instead of running the AC. Believe me using the chiller is much cheaper than running your AC to keep the temp down. I would determine what outlets are connected to that circuit and see if you can isolate that circuit to just your marine equipment. If my setup works fine on my 15amp circuit it should work the same for you.
