My blue hippo tang is getting too big for his usual sleeping/hiding spot. It's a small crevice between two rocks, with a third on top. He darts in there all the time, and that's where he can be found sleeping every night.

The other day I saw a large (quarter size) white spot on one side, and it turns out to be rash from rubbing up against the rock, as he's too big for that spot.

Will he figure this out on his own, or should I "plug" the hole?

I think the fish will figure it out on its own.

I hope it does soon, he's got a pretty nasty wound on his side, but it's healing nicely. Just dont want him stressed over it.

If it is healing the fish isn't stressing. Good news

My dad had one doing the same thing and we changed his spot up. He was rubbing a hole on his side and tearing up his fins going in and out of that hole.

Just let the fish figure it out on his own.
In the wild do people come and plug up the holes when the fish get too big? :D

They don't wait on people to feed them either.

I think the fish will figure it out, but I know if it was my tang I would cover up the hole and make him move. I am just paranoid about my fish and would fix the situation before the fish would.

However I do think he will figure it out and find a new sleeping spot. That is if you are more patient than me.
