I had mine eat nori when I didn't have any of the aquarium brand stuff. Nori is the same thing, just cheaper. I only bought the aquarium brand to support my LFS. Nori is great!

Regal Tangs, Blue Tangs... Paracanthurus Hepatus - Are Planktivores in the wild however once they get going they will eat just about anything offered.

i would try some hikari mysis, nls pellets, and always provide some nori on a clip for a blue tang.

Thanks for all the info - All the research does seem that a hippo tang is planktivors :)

So that brings me to a problem - like most tangs she has a little ick - and one on her eye :-(

She has not really eaten much since - only witnessed a very little piece of brine shrimp and one flake. I have soaked the food in garlic with no effect.

let me know if anyone has any ideas to get her to start eating

Well these fish imo are very finiky. If he is new might take him some time to adjust to his surroudings. One thing I did to help him out with that was picked up a skunk cleaner shrimp. He got ick a few times he would let the shrimp clean him. It was almost like he was mated with him. They love them. As far as feeding try mysis with garlic. I get pure garlic extract from GNC its garlic oil mixed with RO works good just be careful how much you use your skimmer will not be happy with you. :) I soak the mysis in RO/DI to thaw it then drain it in a Brine net. Once its somewhat dry I put a few drops on it. And feed with a turkey baster. He will so come to realize that the food comes from that turkey baster and will be waiting as soon as he see's it. I also give a sheet of nori every day and I do the same thing few drops of garlic on it and stick it in there clip. He will come around sounds like he is new and just not quite sure of himself yet. I know I have a kole tang that did not come out from behind the rocks for a good few weeks. I added another yellow tang and now you cant get him to go behind the rocks. Im starting to think that he just needed a friend. Or to know that there are no preditors in there to gobble him up.

    Good luck

    Big thank you;D

I will try all of it - I do have a skunk cleaner - funny tho the tang is always near it - but the shrimp is totally avoiding her.
