I have 4 Tangs in my 150. I totally agree on the length being 6' at minimum. The depth is not as important. They swim end to end--not really up and down. Good Luck!! P.S. If you can go 120---Then You can go 150 LOL....

They grow really slow. You could probably get a small one and sell it when he gets big.

I would agree with most all post depending on size of the tang you would base the size of the tank as in Length...... but also tank into effect that the worck work will have alot to play also a 6 foot tank with a foot of rock on the side walls will not be a 6 foot tank amymore if that makes sense...... 55 will work for a small tang I kept 3 tangs in a 55 with maybe 50lbs of work all low in the tank and they did great. but they were small juvis/

Definitely get a 6 footer. You will be happy you did. I went through the same thing. I ended up with a 150. Wish I would have gone 180 or 220 but I still love my 150. Find a 125. Look on craigslist, they are popular tanks so there is always one for sale. Even if the tank isn't in the best condition, you may get a nice stand out of it. That stand will hold a 125,135 and 150. So you have a few options there. My tangs are very happy in my tank and I truly think it is the lateral space they have to swim

I have a hippo in my 90 with a sohal tang. I personally think at only 4.5" he still needs much more space, a 150 is still kinda small. I am upgrading to a 250 5x3x27" marineland deep dimension tank to ensure i dont have to get rid of my tangs when they grow up.
