What i do is take a syringe fill it with boiling water (you can add lemon juice to the water if you want) and stab it (well try to) in its mouth. Then inject until it shrivels up and turns to a darker color. Works every time.

Since i started in the hobby, i have injected them with muratic acid and warm water. A 50/50 combination, and it has always worked, and never harmed anything in my tanks.

Just shrivelled up and receeded into the hole. Is it instantanious or does it take time?

Hey Tupps. What you've got is a majano, not aiptasia. The anemone that you have is a lot tougher than aiptasia so it's quite likely that it will come back. I would cover the hole that you saw it receed into with a small piece of rock or with superglue as I suggested earlier. Good luck!

    Hey amcarrig
Well, im pretty sure that its dead. Its been shrivelled up since i injected it. What should i do now? Do i leave it in the tank, or am i supposed to take it out?

How do i take it out if im supposed to (without removing the rock unless i have to)?

Here is a pic to show you what it looks like...

I wouldn't count that sucker out yet, trust me :( Keep a close eye on it. If it doesn't come back within a few days, you might be in luck. If it does come back, see if you can remove it as suggested earlier. Good luck!

Dont i have to remove it even if its dead? How do i go about that?

I was under the impression that they can pollute the tank once they are dead

You won't need to remove it if its dead, no. Also, a little anemone like that will not pollute the tank if it is in fact dead. If you had a ton of them die off then I'd worry about pollution but only one won't do any harm :)

How about a little update Tupps. Is it dead? Just by that last pic it looks like it might come back. If it was aptaisia they shrivel up and almost disappear instantly. If amcarrig is right and its a majano then its a different story.
