    if it is coming from inside the live rock, i'd say peanut worm...might need a clearer picture to identify.

    nah just kinda sits there not doing altough it does seem to be getting longer.

    Those spicules coming out of the top are common on many sponges or rhizopodia on Foraminiferans. However, I've never seen a sponge that looks like that, nor a foram.

    You can put on a pair of latex gloves and touch it to see if it's hard or if it's squishy. If it's hard, it's probably a foram.....soft would be sponge. If it moves, it's a worm and those spicules seen in the picture are coming from something in the background of the picture. You can also send the picture to Dr. Ron....he's good at ID'ing some of these weird things.

    Unfortunately just got the phone camera so not going to do much better.
    Its definately soft i can see it wobble, and when i turn the water pump off it doesnt move independantly.

    Well its something to observe untill the tank is ready for some critters.
