they kind of look like sundial snails, which are known to eat zoanthids. might want to remove them if you cant find any other cause for the disappearing zoa colonies.

i could be wrong but imo those are not sundial snails. sundial snails are distinctly white with alternating white and black bands. atleast the ones i have seen are. i agree with mission about them being collonistas.

Yep, they are absolutely not sundials. They are absolutely in the family Turbinidae, subfamily Colloniinae. Whether this species turns out to be the "real" Collonista amakusaensis is still up for grabs, but my guess is that it will be something else. If it isn't C. amakusaensis (and that's what a lot of the authorities are calling it) it will be another unnamed species in the same subfamily, or one whose name has been hard to track down (lost for a while).

    Cheers,

    Don

I think they're sundials.. even if they're not I have the same problem. Entire colony of zoas wiped out. .That is the same looking snail that is eating my zoas.

It looks just like my first hitch hiker, Zeus. After doing a lot of research I decided he is a mini turbo and he's all good. He's cute and pleasant! But that's just my opinion.

The only problem I've had with those is they get in your pumps. Need to clean them out every now and then.

I found a pic and link to Possitively ID them as the COLLONISTA Snail. Just like everyone above stated And they are nicknamed Minturbo's as MIssion EX and Pagojoe said...

The ID pic is the 5th to last pic in the MOTILE section

No one has addressed the possibility you have a Nudibranch (polyp eating type) in there. I would look at night if possible to see if you catch one having a night time snack.
