I was looking at a piece of live rock I bought two days ago from a LFS to help seed my dry rock, and I noticed this.

I looked through some common hitchhikers, but I couldn't be ID it. Everything looks so similar to a newbie. Any idea what this is?

If it is aptaisia, I know that's bad, and I should take steps to remove it. Is there any way to get rid of the aptaisia without removing all the good stuff on the rock, or should I just find new rocks to help seed my dry rock that doesn't have any bad hitchhikers on it?

I looked over the rock before buying it, but I guess the aptaisia was hiding in the crevices, because I just noticed it now.

There are at least 3-4 of them on the rock. I think I'm going to take the rock out of the tank until I decide on a treatment method. I'd rather wait longer for my base rock to become "live" than deal with a full-blown infestation, if I can help it. Hopefully it hasn't spread yet. *crosses fingers*

Thanks guys for the quick replies. :)

Take a syringe with a needle and some lemon juice. Poke it right into the mouth and put some lemon in the little guy that will take care of the problem and there no harm to the tank.
