Hitchiker safe or not???ASAP

just found another definateley have to freshwater dip. what is the name of the iodine dip or is there a mixture i can make up. i do have seachem's reef iodine.

so i did the freshwater dip for 60 seconds. polyps re opened in the morning but i also found and extracted 2 more nudi twice the size of the first nudi in the pic.

thx to those who posted the links, VERY helpful. definately the metallic orange nudi. the picture of the eggs was ideal as i really did not know what the eggs would look like therefore not knowing what to look for.

im going to pick up the iodine dip tomorrow but is there anything i can do other than to quarantine?

 

Lugols dip is the way to go with any coral issues!

 

There are a few dips, Lugols, Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure, Seachem has one just be sure to follow direction or you can kill the polyps.Regular iodine is not concentrated enough. Also this does NOT kill the eggs, they need to be scraped off, but be careful and wear rubber gloves and glasses so yo don't get palytoxin in or on you. Can be bad news, I rubbed some in my eyes and ended up in emergency with a swollen eye and had severe flue like symptoms for about 3 weeks (nausea, aches, cramps, disorientation) Good luck!

 

Its a zoa eating nudi as mentioned before. They turn the colors of whatever they eat to camoflauge themselves. Lugols kills them, but not their eggs. Ive been experimenting with a potassium permanganate dip. It dissolves their eggs on montiporas, but I have got the dosage down just right for zoa's. You have to remove their eggs clutches if you can find them.

When I dip zoa's that FOR SURE have nudi's... 15 drops of lugols to 1 quart of tank water. Then inspect EACH polyp for eggs, the eggs with be tiny white dots in a circle pattern. When you find a polyp with the eggs, it is best to remove the WHOLE polyp and try not disturb the eggs. IF one eggs comes off, then you will have more later.

Remove ALL zoas from the tank, dip them ALL and inspect for eggs and it would be best to leave them out of the tank for atleast 6 weeks in quarantine. That way any nudi's that are left in the tank will starve so you dont have another outbreak when you put them back in tank.

 

that is a Nudi....not sure what type thou some are good and some are bad....you might want to check for egg sacs,,,, those things could get out of control in a very short time....
