I found this link to somone who built a HOB fuge out of a Aquaclaer 70. Which is what I want to do. I have a aquaclear 70 as well.

However since this was a older post from a diffrent site and I had questions, I wanted to get some info from here.

1.Is this a good build fro a HOB fuge?
2.for the baffle he created. He didnt explian how far down to go. does
that go all the way to the bottom?
    3. I see his is for a nano. would this wok for a 46? thanks

    1. The build looks good IMO.
    2. It does appear that the baffle goes to the bottom.. making the water flow over it.
    3. Any fuge is better than no fuge. ideally you want your fuge to be 10% of your DT volume (~5g fuge for 46g tank) but its not that big a deal.

Go for it. It cant hurt and will most likely improve your tanks health.

thanks for the advice fisch. How far up do I bring the baffle? Also what is the purpose of the baffle? Why does the intake chamer need to be seperated? could this be run the same without the baffle?

good thread.. I know those HOB refugiums w/ pumps and lights can cost a arm and a leg.. looks like you can do it for around $50 bucks or less with lights..
