    Hey guys,
Did a bunch of checking around the forums and well it seems kind of hard to get a definite answer to this question so I just figured I'd ask. What is the best HOB skimmer. I'm looking at doing a 40 gallon breeder tank reef style with only like 5-7 fish tops. I'm not doing a sump. I'm gonna do a HOB filter as well coupled with live rock and of course a couple power heads to keep a current going.

I looked at the SWC HOB protein skimmers Hang On Skimmers

And I saw a couple recommendations on the about.com piece they did on salt water aquariums.

Seaclone skimmer Aquarium Systems Seaclone Protein Skimmer

Turboflotor 1000 Aquarium Protein Skimmers: Aqua Medic Turboflotor Blue 1000 Protein Skimmer

Is this super reef octopus really the bombdigity or what? Super Reef Octopus XP 1000S CONE Hang-on-Back Protein Skimmer - AquaCave

Just a little confused and again want something great quality for what I'm doing and that does it's job well.

    Thanks a lot guys.

    Mike

I like the BakPak Skimmers made by CPR. They do a great job and are super user friendly requiring almost no adjustment. Also, they are realatively cheap in price as well. Dont let the pice fool you though. These skimmers are built using good thick plexi and come with good pumps and all of that jazz.

LOVE my octopus lx1000s, youll get used to the red but the performance is very good. I've only had my skimmer a couple of weeks it was pretty much plug in and play, i've had little to no microbubbles, and after the first week i was getting some nice dark skimmate.

I was looking at their new cone, that was my first choice but i didnt have enough room behind my tank for it to fit.
