Yes! I got it to work. I tried your method of priming it and it worked! Thanks so much.! How long did it take yours to skim very well, reduce microbubbles? Also is the pump suppose to be this loud? Will it eventually quiet a bit down?

It should settle down and start skimming in a few days to a week. You will probably need to set the cup a little high so it doesn't fill quickly with wet foam/water and lower it as the skimmer breaks in and starts producing skimmate. The microbubbles and pump noise should lessen in a few days also.As far as I know the silencer is only to quiet the sound of the unit sucking air and not using one should not affect performance.

Thanks! The skimmer was making very nice sized foam, but then I adjusted the skimmer a bit and turned if off to feed the fish. Right now, the skimmer is just making very tiny bubbles that pop as soon as they reach the collection cup. I adjusted the air as good as I could. The foam isn't reaching the top of the collection cup because there isn't a good amount of foamy bubble production. Should I just keep it on and will it eventually create the foam again or will it just keep making the microbubbles that pop?

It'll eventually create foam again when it needs to. Don't set the foam level too high or it'll fill the cup fast.

Also, as it breaks in it's going to get more efficient at making foam so you have to watch how fast it fills the cup and keep turning it down every now and again otherwise you wake up to a wet floor and an overflowing cup.

It will eventually make the foam, you're in the breaking in phase. Once it starts to make the foam, it will do that consistently. You do have to keep an eye on it though because if it spills over too quickly (wet skim) you will have water on the floor....it's a little touchy as far as skimmers go in that it needs adjusting pretty regularly (as in the position of the cup).

oh, and one more thing.....I wouldn't keep turning it on and off like to feed your fish and such....it can run pretty constant....you want it running to pull out stuff such as uneaten food and such. You can turn your power heads off when feeding but I wouldn't turn off the skimmer.
