I have the bh1000 on my 40b,I think it's plenty big enough, rated for tanks up to 100 and is quiet.I have no exsperience with remoras.

No problems with leaking onto the floor or anything?

Here's my pride and joy. Just added a Diamond Watchman Goby today. The coolest fish so far, he takes a mouthful of sand and sifts the gunk out of it lol. I was amazed to say the least.

Personally I love the BH-2000 as opposed to remora, my friend runs the remora on his 55 and I run the octopus on my 75. It is much quieter than his. I think you could use the BH-1000 on your 40 with no problems at all. The 2000 seems lik some overkill for a 40 gallon, but I guess that depends on what you plan on housing. Either way both skimmers are top notch!

My remora is way too loud, and it's not the pump.
